Los Gigantes is a cozy coastal town in the southwest of Tenerife, famous for its impressive cliffs of the same name.

You can get to Los Gigantes from several airports on the island:

  • Tenerife South Airport (TFS) is located about 50 km from the town. From there, regular buses and taxis go to Los Gigantes.
  • You can also fly to Tenerife North Airport (TFN) — but it's not the best choice, as the road to Los Gigantes takes about 1.5–2 hours by car or bus.

Where to stay in Los Gigantes? There are several excellent options for hotels and apartments.

Popular places to stay include:

  • Royal Sun Resort - a four-star hotel with a rating of 4.6 stars on Google Maps. Prices start from 90 euros per night for a room with one double bed.
  • Klayman Diamond Aparthotel - a three-star hotel with a rating of 4.7 on Google Maps. The minimum cost of a room starts from 120 euros.
  • Sholeo Lodges Los Gigantes - a three-star hotel with a rating of 4.7 on Google Maps. It is located closer to the center, and prices start from 70 euros per night.

All of these hotels are conveniently located and will make your stay as comfortable as possible.

1. Mirador Archipenque

Mirador Archipenque is one of the iconic Los Gigantes attractions. It offers one of the most stunning panoramic views in all of Tenerife. Here, you can see huge cliffs that go straight into the ocean, a small pier where locals moor their yachts and boats, as well as the beach Playa de los Guios and the island of La Gomera on the horizon. The view is truly breathtaking and full of contrasts. The best time to visit is at sunset, if you want to see how the cliffs turn from volcanic gray to gold. On foggy days, the place looks very mystical.

How to get there:

Just a 15-minute walk from the center of Los Gigantes. There is a bus stop called Archipenque nearby, from which the walk takes only 2–3 minutes.

What is nearby:

This mirador is located within the city, so there are cafés and other attractions within walking distance.

We suggest visiting Bar Cafetería Mirador de Archipenque. It has a 3.5 rating on Google, but you can enjoy beautiful views of the cliffs and have good coffee with fresh croissants.

2. City Center & Playa de los Guíos

The center of Los Gigantes is a compact but very cozy place. Most of the cafés, souvenir shops, and the best restaurants of Los Gigantes with good ratings on Google Maps are situated here. The main city beach, called Playa de los Guíos, is just a few minutes’ walk from here. The beach has fine volcanic sand, which is very soft and almost free of large stones. The entire beach is about 200 meters long, so there is enough space for visitors even at the height of the season.

There are breakwaters, so it is safe to swim even with children. The beach is fully equipped with all amenities: you can rent a sun lounger or umbrella, and there are showers, toilets, and lifeguards on site. Bars and cafés are just a couple of minutes’ walk away.

Fans of active recreation can rent a kayak or SUP, or go snorkeling — especially interesting near the rocks.

How to get there:

If you are already in Los Gigantes, you can walk to the center and the beach from most hotels in 5–10 minutes.

What is nearby:

Restaurante Los Gigantes Beach Club with 4.7 Rating, Mirador Los Guios with amazing panoramic view of the ocean and rocks.

3. Puerto De Los Gigantes

Puerto de Los Gigantes (Los Gigantes Marina) is a small but lively marina and promenade at the foot of the famous cliffs. Here, you can join one of the ocean cruises and enjoy an incomparable experience of all the possible Los Gigantes Tenerife activities. You can go on a whale and dolphin watching boat trip or simply sail to Masca Bay.

Not only is this the departure point for your perfect sea trip, but it is also a beautiful place in itself. The piers and boats against the backdrop of the cliffs make a great spot for taking photos. In the evening, you can visit the bars and restaurants along the promenade.

How to get there:

The port is located in Los Gigantes itself; from the center and the beach, it’s a 5–15 minute walk.

What is nearby:

It is better to book tours in advance, especially at the end of summer and on major holidays.

4. Piscina Natural Acantilado de Los Gigantes

Our next spot is Piscina Natural, also known as Charco de Isla Cangrejo. This natural pool has about 3,000 reviews on Google Maps with an average rating of 4.4. The lagoon is separated from the open ocean by volcanic rocks. The water here is much calmer than in the open sea, making it a great place for swimming and relaxing. However, during high tide and big waves, you should be careful — the walls are not high enough to completely protect from the ocean swells. The lagoon is not very big, and during the season, there may be little space here in the evening. Entering over the rocks can be slippery, so take caution.

⚠️Attention – dangerous place! During high waves, fatal incidents often occur, and people are swept into the ocean. Be very careful – do not swim when there are waves!⚠️

How to get there:

This place is located close to the city center, so you can get here by foot.

5. Mirador El Trio Divina

A little further south from the previous destination is Mirador El Trio Divina. This is a small observation deck — a quiet and secluded spot where you can enjoy the panorama of the famous Los Gigantes cliffs. There is a bench and enough space to take amazing photos. Many reviews from tourists say that this is one of the best places to photograph the cliffs with a panoramic view of the ocean. You can also simply sit down and enjoy the moment.

How to get there:

Head south from the previous point along C. Magnolia.

What is nearby:

No amenities nearby, only silence and a view of an ocean and cliffs.

6. Conclusion

Los Gigantes offers unique attractions for its visitors. This town is worth visiting not only because of the incredible beauty of the cliffs, but also to see dolphins, take a boat ride to watch whales, do active sports, or just relax on the town beach. In addition, this can be combined with visits to neighboring towns.
